Hinamatsuri: Dolls for a Daughter's Happiness
It's traditionally believed that if the Hina dolls are not put away promptly after March 3rd, it will delay the daughter's future marriage. This superstition encourages families to be diligent about post-festival cleanup.

Hinamatsuri wa, onnanoko ga iru katei de, sono ko no sukoyaka na seichō to shōrai no shiawase o inoru tame ni, gōka na hinaningyō o kazaru to iu dentōteki na gyōji desu.
Hinamatsuri is a traditional event where families with daughters display elaborate Hina dolls to pray for their healthy growth and future happiness.
Hinaningyō o kazaru fūshū wa, furuku wa kami no hitogata ni yakusai o utsushite kawa ni nagashita koto ni yurai suru to sare, musume ga saiyaku kara mamorare, shiawase na en ni megumareru yō ni to no oyagokoro ga komerarete imasu.
The custom of displaying Hina dolls is said to originate from the ancient practice of transferring calamities onto paper effigies and floating them down a river, embodying the parents' heartfelt wish that their daughters be protected from misfortune and blessed with a happy marriage.
